Yep, the story has to have meaning for you and something you can relate to, otherwise it’s just words.

I agree most with Peter Brown. I for example LOVE Stephen King, and have probably read 98% of his works, and I naturally borrow from the library or buy any new book he puts out with the full confidence that I will love it. Only once has this policy let me down and it happened upon cracking open “The Girl who Loved Tom Gordon.” I just couldn’t relate. The sports stuff wasn’t even that prevalent, it just put me off enough that I couldn’t get into the story. So I agree. If you can’t relate, if there is NOTHING to relate to, it is hard to sell to anyone.

I do get tired of the rain, but I know I can’t take that kind of heat. It is beautiful country. I’ve been to Arches National Park.
